Its primary function is to control the flow of fluid into and out of the well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equipment and Configuration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>size and number of components<\/strong> in the Surface Test Tree depend on the type of test being performed and the rig used. The minimum required equipment includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lift sub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surface test tree block<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Swivel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crossover to the test string<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test lines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>STT<\/strong> incorporates a central body that contains the following components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Four Gate Valves:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A master valve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A swab valve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A kill valve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A hydraulically actuated (normally closed) flow valve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A Swivel<\/strong> situated below the central body, allowing tubing rotation for manipulating downhole equipment without turning the test tree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A Lifting Sub<\/strong> for rig elevators to raise and lower the tree in the derrick.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, each tree is supplied with <strong>wing blocks<\/strong> that are attached to enable flexible flow lines to be connected to the surface tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Surface Test Tree<\/strong> can be adapted to various sizes of tubing or drill pipe through the use of a crossover sub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pressure and Specifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The test trees are available in models with <strong>10,000 psi<\/strong> and <strong>15,000 psi<\/strong> working pressure. A manual wing valve is typically used for kill line connection, circulating procedures, or stimulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Slickline<\/strong>, <strong>coiled tubing<\/strong>, or <strong>electric line operations<\/strong> can be performed through the STT swab valve by connecting BOP\u2019s and a lubricator to the top connection of the STT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>swivel<\/strong>, an integral part of the STT assembly, is installed between the STT block and the work string or tubing. Its primary function is to allow the rotation of the work string or tubing for manipulation of downhole equipment without turning the STT and the flexible flowlines attached to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>check valve<\/strong> can be installed on the kill side of the STT, preventing well effluent from flowing back through the kill line into the kill pumps, which allows the kill valve to remain open for emergency purposes during testing operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>lower master valve<\/strong> adds an additional layer of safety. In the event of a leak occurring above the valve, it can be closed to allow for repairs.
