The kingpost attaches to the rig structure and is braced with three tie-back struts. Vertical suspension cables and horizontal wind-stay cables support the boom, so a rig crane is not needed for support. The length of the boom depends on the anticipated flow rates and the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By using a boom, operators can avoid exposing property and personnel to excessive heat radiation levels from the combustion process. The well test piping typically includes a manifold to divert flow to the downwind side for safe operation.
